CAP Initiative expands to new countries

Blog Carbon Action Regenerative Agriculture

The CAP Initiative has expanded to new countries over the past few months. The Initiative now has 27 partner organisations based in five countries with members across all of Europe. Recently welcomed members include Climate Farmers, EARA and IFOAM Organics Europe.

Since day one, the CAP Initiative and its constructive approach have been met with enthusiasm. Despite what conventional wisdom says about the current political and societal climate, people and organisations have shown their eagerness to co-operate and forge a path forward together. Given the manifold predicaments our European societies find themselves in, we find hope in the fact that so many people and organisations recognise that we cannot afford to give in to simplistic and divisive rhetorics.

Within the CAP Initiative, we’re coming together to advocate for change. Agriculture has immense potential and is a strategic sector. We need policy that helps farmers improve profitability, ensures farming and food production contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and strengthen biodiversity and security. Policy should be built on an understanding of the interconnected nature of the challenges at hand.

In the coming weeks and months, we’re further elaborating on how policy could better reflect and adapt to our current and ever-changing reality. We’re continuing to meet with policymakers and stakeholders. The door to the CAP Initiative remains open. With the proposal for the next Multi-annual Financial Framework set to be published in the summer and the Common Agricultural Policy proposal still a little further down the road, now is an excellent time to co-operate for a better CAP.

Since the beginning of the year the CAP Initiative has welcomed the following organisations:

Finnish Food and Drink Industries’ Federation, Baltic Environmental Forum Lithuania, Nature and Game Management Trust Finland, Kiertoravinne, Organic Denmark, MAA-akatemia, the LEADER Youth Community, Cense Analytics, Soilfood, The National Climate Unit of Finnish ELY Centres, European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture EARA, Climate Farmers, IFOAM Organics Europe, Finnish Beekeepers’ Association
