Scripophily.fi, which specialises in collecting obsolete share certificates, is challenging companies to donate old, cancelled share certificates for an auction, the proceeds from which will be wholly used on work for the Baltic Sea. Cancelled share certificates only have value as collectibles, but in countries like Germany, the popularity of collecting has elevated the trade in old share certificates to become a profitable business. The hobby is clearly becoming increasingly popular also in Finland.
