THE E-COLLEGE FOR REGENERATIVE FARMING
The E-college for Regenerative Farming is an online course, available for anyone free of charge. It brings together a collection of new and familiar best practices for farming. The course was created in collaboration with farmers, researchers, agricultural advisors and other Finnish food chain operators and is based on both scientific research and practical experience gained from the Carbon Action project. The course is available in Finnish and Swedish.
What?
A free, 60-hour online study module about regenerative farming in Finnish and Swedish. The course can be used like a textbook, and you can pick the topics most relevant to you.
For whom?
Suitable for farmers in all production sectors, regardless of their production method. The course can also be used at educational institutions as a self-contained module or by utilising relevant chapters in other courses.
Why?
The E-college offers a location-independent way for farmers to develop their expertise. Regenerative cultivation methods can improve the productivity of a field and its resilience to extreme weather.
A versatile study module
The E-college for Regenerative Farming is an approximately 60-hour study module that provides a comprehensive overview of regenerative farming and its potential applications.
The theory section handles topics such as tillage, crop rotation, water management and biodiversity. The course also includes plenty of practical examples and fieldwork exercises.
Everyone can learn about regenerative farming affordably and on their own terms.

A farming method for every field
Regenerative farming principles can be applied to all farms and production sectors. Everyone can choose the most suitable soil-improving methods for their own farm and situation, which will also generate numerous other environmental benefits.
Soil health improves in regeneratively farmed fields as it increases photosynthesis and the amount of organic matter in the soil. It also creates favourable conditions for soil microbes. You can start by experimenting with some soil-improving cultivation methods in a small area and gradually progress with steps that suit your farm and working methods.
Regenerative farming safeguards the farming business
One of the primary purposes of regenerative farming is to improve soil health continuously. Soil health will positively impact crop safety and thereby safeguard farmers’ livelihoods.
Money spent on enhancing the health of arable land is a long-term investment for the future, as the farm’s profitability will also improve over time. As the condition of your arable land improves, you will be less dependent on off-farm input purchases. A healthy field can produce crops even during difficult growing seasons and is also better placed to adapt to climate change.
REGENERATIVE FARMING
Improves soil structure and health.
Improves crop safety and yields.
Improves productivity in changing climatic conditions.
The same agricultural measures can help to mitigate climate change and eutrophication in the Baltic Sea whilst also improving the profitability of agriculture.
